We are a network of non-profit intergenerational
volunteer agencies in San Francisco that share intergenerational
values as well as a vision for collaboration.
In the spirit of collaboration, Generations for Education
leverages each agency’s strengths to better serve the
community. Together, we recruit, train, place, and support
adults 55 and older in impacting the learning environment
of San Francisco youth.
We believe that everyone benefits when generations
come together to support each other and hope that you’ll
join us in making San Francisco a better place for young and
old alike.
Mission
Generations for Education is a coalition
of non-profit intergenerational volunteer agencies which recruit,
train, place, and support older adult community members in
impacting the learning environment of youth.
Purpose
The purpose of Generations for Education is to facilitate
collaboration between leading intergenerational volunteer
programs in San Francisco through:
- Promoting awareness of the mutual benefit
created by bringing older and younger generations
together
- Engaging the life experience of older
adults in strengthening learning environments for
children
- Encouraging the development of an intergenerational
culture within organizations and
communities
- Providing volunteers with the resources
to establish positive experiences with youth
